Recruitment and Admission
The Graduate Studies Office has many resources to help graduate committee faculty with the recruitment and admission processes for students:
- We complement Prospective Student visits
- We offer Campus Tours as requested. Please make sure to provide us advance notice so that our office can accommodate these requests.
- We offer Prospective Student Travel Grants of up to $600 per student to assist faculty with the cost of bringing prospective students for a campus visit
- We can advise faculty on the status of an application and supply documents from the application
- We coordinate fellowship and assistantship award applications

Graduate Courses
The Graduate Studies Office coordinates new graduate level course requests for the Galveston campus. Faculty interested in teaching a graduate course should work with their department’s Graduate Instructional Committee representative for additional information.
TAMU Curricular ServicesGraduate Instructional Committee
The charge of the Graduate Instructional Committee (GIC) reviews all proposed courses, programs, and changes to existing courses and programs at the graduate level and shall recommend appropriate policies to develop and improve graduate academic programs. Meetings are typically monthly September through May with additional meetings called as needed.

TAMU Center for Teaching Excellence offers Faculty Mentoring Resources which includes the Faculty Mentoring Academy, Workshops, Mentoring Resources (within TAMU and beyond), and Consultations.
Graduate Committee Faculty are welcome to attend advising sessions that we host with graduate students. Typical advising sessions are incoming advising, preliminary exam advising, proposal advising and graduation advising. These advising sessions focus on university level policies and resources.
