Ways to Give
WAYS TO GIVE
The Galveston Development team can help you tailor a gift that fulfill your long-term charitable and financial goals. To discuss your options, call 409-740-4481, or contact one of our development staff.
There are many traditional ways of giving, and in many cases, corporate matching funds may be used to help fulfill a personal pledge. Some of the opportunities include endowed undergraduate scholarships, endowed graduate fellowships, endowed faculty positions, room, building and laboratory naming opportunities, departmental gifts, annual gifts, and major project campaigns.
If you want your gift to Texas A&M University at Galveston to go to work immediately, a current gift of cash or securities might be the best option.
Give by Credit Card
The Texas A&M Foundation accepts credit card payments online.
Give by Mail
Write a check payable to the Texas A&M Foundation, note in the memo field how you would like your gift directed (i.e. a specific scholarship, in memoriam, etc.) and mail to:
Recognize Others Through an Honorary or Memorial Gift
A gift in memory or in honor of a teacher, student, relative or friend is a generous and thoughtful way to recognize a person's life and accomplishments.
When you make an honorary or memorial gift to the Texas A&M Foundation, we will notify the honoree or next of kin, and the gift is used as you specified.
For an honorary or memorial gift, you may mail us a check or make an online credit card donation. Please include the honoree/memorial information in the "Additional Comments or Instructions" box or memo line of your check. Make sure to include contact information for the honoree or next of kin so that the Texas A&M Foundation can send notification of your gift.
You may be able to increase the amount of your gift by taking advantage of a corporate matching program. Several companies offer retirees and widowers of employees the same matching gift opportunities they offer current employees.
If your employer offers matching gifts, you may be able to make a larger donation to Texas A&M Galveston without further reducing your own assets and still receive a charitable deduction for the amount you give.
Each qualifying employer has a slightly different process and deadline, so be sure to check with your HR department for details.
Use our online database to see what matching gift opportunities your company offers and find out if your employer will match your gift to the Texas A&M Foundation.
Corporate Gifts
Corporate support comes in two forms: giving and volunteering. Contributions from organizations support students, faculty, programs, and capital improvements.
Volunteering enables advanced access to emerging ideas and technologies through faculty-executive exchanges, advisory council memberships and guest lectures. Please contact us if you or your company is interested in serving on a board, as a mentor or volunteer, or engaging with the Texas A&M Galveston in some other unique way.

1. Outright gift of cash or securities
For gifts of cash, you are entitled to an income tax deduction of up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income with a five-year carry-over period for the excess. For gifts of long-term appreciated securities, the limit is 30 percent of adjusted gross income, and you may be able to avoid the capital gain that would have applied had you sold the securities.
2. A five-year pledge
We want to accommodate your unique circumstances and are happy to have installment gifts of up to five years. Additionally arrangements can be made for a portion of your annual pledge payment to fund your scholarship as you build the endowment.
3. Gift in trust
We are happy to work with you and your financial adviser to create an income arrangement that suits your unique circumstances. For example, you may choose a fixed or fluctuating payment, the rate of such payment and many other features to suit your needs. You may incur no capital gain tax on the transfer of appreciated, long-term securities or real estate to the trust, and you will receive an income tax deduction for part of the gift. Upon the death of the beneficiary (you or another person), the Texas A&M Foundation will have the use of the trust funds for the purpose you designate.
4. Outright gift of real estate
Most real estate has appreciated faster than the rate of inflation and offers great potential in charitable gift planning. We would be happy to explore with you a gift of a home, vacation property, condominium, undeveloped land or other real estate in support of the program you select.
5. Gift of a personal residence or farm with a retained life estate
It is possible to transfer ownership of your personal residence or farm for the benefit of the Texas A&M Galveston while retaining the enjoyment of the property during your lifetime. This may be an excellent way to support Texas A&M, receive a current income tax deduction for the property's discounted value, and continue to use the property for as long as you life.
6. Purchasing a new life insurance policy benefiting Texas A&M Galveston
You can make a world changing commitment to the campus through a life insurance gift. Through relatively modest annual gifts, you can create a major gift. Plus, your annual premiums will be deductible for income tax purposes.
7. Gift of an existing life insurance policy
Many people own insurance policies that no longer fulfill their original purposes. Such policies can be given to the Texas A&M Foundation. In general, you will be entitled to an income tax deduction for the case surrender value and can deduct any future premiums paid.
8. Gift of an income stream
You can provide annual payments to the campus from a pool of assets, which later will be distributed to your heirs. This plan allows you to transfer assets to family members at a reduced transfer tax while providing meaningful support to our programs for a period of years.
9. Bequest
You can designate Texas A&M at Galveston as a beneficiary in your will and specify what programs the funds will directly support.
10. Creative combinations
You can make a major commitment to Texas A&M at Galveston through any one of the above gift arrangements, or you can combine them in creative ways to suit your passion for Texas A&M.
