Get To Know Nikolaos Mykoniatis

What in your life drew you to your current field of study?

Coming from a Maritime-rich country and growing up next to the water, I soon realized that our well being, as humans, depends a lot on natural resources. The protection and management of coastal and ocean resources have always been a very appealing topic to me and I am really glad to have the opportunity to do research on it.

What do you hope your students gain from studying or working with you?

I always try to relate the teaching material with everyday life, and I enjoy teaching students by example. Teaching is learning and learning is my passion. I strive to share this passion with my students every single day. As young professionals, I want to be able to ask them the right questions. In my view, acquiring the tools to answer these questions is the second step in the learning process, and will make students to retain the knowledge for the rest of their lives.

What are you passionate about in your personal life?

Swimming, playing basketball, and doing all sorts of outdoor activities. I also enjoy listening to and playing music, as well as going to the cinema.
